Theatre on the Ridge

History

Theatre on the Ridge was founded in 1975 as an offshoot of a children's program administered by the Paradise Recreation and Parks District. Originally producing one or two productions a year in the local gymnasium, the Theatre expanded to its own location in September 1979. Renovations of an old commercial building were accomplished with all volunteer labor and donations of material and services from the local business community.

The first season of regularly scheduled performances began in 1980 with four productions and the sale of season tickets. Since that time, seasons have evolved to produce six shows annually with more than 750 season ticket subscribers for the 101-seat facility.

TOTR is the oldest California non-profit community theater north of Sacramento.

Mission

The purpose of Theatre on the Ridge is to engage, educate and entertain our community with consistently creative theatre experiences.

Our mission includes, but is not limited to:

  • Promoting education and involvement in the performing arts.

  • Providing area residents with opportunities for participation in, and appreciation for, theater arts.

  • Encouraging training and education for both young people and adults in the performing arts.

  • And, when possible, to foster appreciation for serious drama as well as new, original drama by local and other writers.
